lego star wars II and uber soldie.... and the right hand of death.
securom and starforce, very nice folks very nice indeed. i was going to buy these games for the pc, unfortunately they are also plagued with the concept that the best way to get people to buy their stuff is to degrade the product.
way to go guys you lost a customer, for two different games...theres a pattern here.

flatout 2
this might be a farley old game by now but i have a few things to say about it.
first let me make the statement that the multiplayer was so bad that i didnt actually get to the single player, in fear that it would not be much better.
it gives you nitro arbitrarily, your car gets stuck on rocks, you cant change your car without completely exiting, the levels leave something to be desired, and overall there was not much ryhme of reason as to why i was winning or why my friend was winning. ill give you an example. one race im really kicking my friend in the but, i mean im hallf a lap ahead of him. and i cut a turn some what and bump into a rock. "ok thats fair i saw the rock coming i can just reverse and keep going" of course i cant. for my car is somehow stuck on the rock in such a way that it cannot move in any possible way, and i have to WAIT for the dam car to slide of the rock. after it had done so my friend not only caught up but was considerably in the lead.
one of the main reasons i rented the game was because the friends from my clan were playing online, and i wanted to see if it was worth buying. also i wanted to see if it was worth installing the game, with starforce which is a garbage company pent on taking over the world for no real good reason. they say they're trying to protect the game from piracy, well newsflash, you cant stop piracy. piracy is going to be here, whether you like it or not starforce, and im not going to install your dum game if you are going to install yourself on my computer. this is my computer starforce, not yours.
another reason why i rented the game was to play some neat stunts with my friend but i guess vivendi couldnt be bothered to give the stunt events a multiplayer mode.
you put a bowling stunt on your game but no multiplayer? what the heck were you thinking? you think people are going to want to play these stunts by themselves? NO! they're going to want to play them with a few friends so thay can laugh at the rag doll driver fly through the air and break a few bones. but i guess i found an answer.... we took turns, you think they could've had that in the programming... not too much to ask.
i might sound like a pickey person, but i was already disatisfied by this game, asking for a turn based program is hardly being pickey when the rest of the game sucks
i give this game a 3/1o, because it was still fun to watch the rag doll go flying into the dart board, but vivendi... this was a huge dissapointment in my books.
thanks for reading.

elebits and soldat capper
well first this is first, i registered soldat. i had gotten a suficiant amount of hour of fun and entertainment and i thought it was time to pay my tribute to the guy who made it. the other reason i did this was because i was reading in the guys entree and apparently when he updates the game the registered people are going to get a little bit more, and the people who arent are going to pay a bit more. thats right, when our giid friend updates soldat the price is going up to 13 and he says it might go to 15. this might sound like bad news, but i dont think so, first of all hes not making registered people pay and extra 5 dollars and second of all, this means hes adding a bunch more stuff to the game. ive bought games for 20 bucks and gotten less fun out of them then soldat, so 15 is more then fair, especially if hes adding to it.
second on the list is elebits.
i got elebits over the holidays and it is pretty good. how should i go about explaining this.... oh ya! its part lemmings, part katamari, part shoot 'em up, and yes part gary's mod.
for people who dont know what gary's mod is please visit this link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary%27s_Mod
so whats the story line? well to be frank there isnt one... the storyline is so flat and lifeless that i almost wish i could skip them. but since they probably had the best photoshop designers out there to make the pretty pictures we see, well i guess its more then fair we are forced to see what they had to offer.
what i do like-
the gradual part of it the fact that you start with picking yp boxes and plates and TVs and eventually you pick up huge buildings. neat powerups, that are actually useful, AND are fun to use, for instance the vacum powerup is got to be the most fun ive had in a while where a giant vortex basically ransacks the world.the cute little elebits that do they're cute little acrobats while you suck them up into oblivion to powerup the city. that you can interact with certain objects in order to power them up such as putting the popcorn in the microwave or putting bread in the toaster.lame bosses that are kinda cliched but still add to the game. but most of all i like the physical interaction between the game and the wiimote. that part felt more natural thenn most games.
what i didnt like-
wlking through doors is akward, and sometimes irritating since the door forcably opens and yet a tiny object can stop it from oppening, and it forably closes if you dont walk through it right away. stupid black elebits that dont die and just get away, and the fact that there are BIG versions of these jerks. the game gets repedetive, theres not enough new stuff after each level and the story is rare, and lame, and flimsy.
well the likes compared to the dislikes are pretty good, so im going to have to give this game a 7/10! it could've been a lot better, with very simple changes, but the simple changes are bog enough that they degrade the overall experience.

dudes! i found a few things worth posting!
ok first iv'e reinstalled a game i forgot to mention before, its for the pc, and its free. this game is called soldat and its kind of an action packed worms game except its not turned-based. thats right its real time and it is pretty intense. a couple things, you can download this game from the website http://www.soldat.pl/. or you can just click this link here and download it directly from my blog: http://www.mannindustries.net/soldat/soldat131.zip
its deffinetly worth trying. you can also enhance the gameplay by adding a custom mod from this site http://soldatmods.edgegaming.com/integramod/portal.php
i would suggest the toon mod, its nice and not too distractive, also the doom mod is pretty neat, i wouldnt suggest it though but its neat to see doom in 2d. to successfully install a mod in soldat extract the zip file and just shove the file in soldat->mods. but heres the tricky part. start up a note pad and type exactly this: Soldat.exe -mod modname
just copy and paste and where it says "modname" replace with the name of the mod you want to try out, then save as type: "all files" and call it anything you want with .bat at the end, then just shove that in the soldat file.
when you want to play the mod just double click the bat file, and if you find a mod you like make a shortcut of the bat file on your desktop and change the icon to the soldat icon. there you go, its a really interesting game. probably the thing i like most about it is that it hones any first person shooter experience you might have, you could be brand new to the game and get a top score, i know because thats how it worked for me.
also i should mention the game you are downloading is a near finished version of the full version which is purchasable for 10 dollars, not a bad deal but the features look merly luxurious to me, you can change the color of your jet boot flames, allow your own music to be played, change the style of your interface, but i think ill stick to the yellow flames, no music, and a standard interface...
however, if you find youself playing this game for an extended period of time, i would advise the purchase of these extra features, to help the small developement company, because its worth taking the extra step if your going to be playing the game for a long time, but purely because ten bucks really isnt that much...
also something i may not have mentioned before but is worth looking at, is steam. at first i thought steam was a program trying to take over my sytem due to copyprotection, but compared to such copy protection such as starforce, steam is santa clause in the flash.
what i mean is it really tries to do what it was meant to do, it provides media to download of upcomming products, free of charge, and even demos, completley harmless all you have to do is double click. one demo i recently indulged in was for a game called defcom. its a fun game with a humerous permis of global domination in the form of a nuclear war. whats cool is the demo provides an online service so you can play with others. the game is made by the same people who did a game called darwinia a neat 3d 6 bit game with aspects borrowed from many interesting things including tron, real time strategy games, shooters, civs, sims, almost everything.
thats worth looking at too.
also steam provides mods for games you've purchased from them, such as the half-life series and... other games....heh.
so there you go some free games to tickle you mindless pleasures at least until you scrape the inside of the couch for that last quarter so you can rent another 360 game from the corner perveyor, catch ya later
